Bob Thorpe
Bob Thorpe is a successful consultant and trainer, with a background of outstanding management gained both in industry and the British Armed Forces. He has considerable business acumen and fully understands the intricacies of working in a multi-cultural environment. He has conducted business throughout the World and has particular experience throughout Europe, South America, Middle East, Asia and the USA.
In a commercial career spanning 25 years, Bob has built an enviable reputation in both small and large organisations. He has lived in the United Kingdom, the United States and Asia whilst working and delivering solutions to companies throughout the World. Major achievements include:
- Small Business Development - Building the international business of a small UK helicopter company from 1% of their business to over 35% of the company’s turnover in an 18 month period. He achieved this success both through working with partners and direct selling into countries in the Middle East and South America
- Global Sales Management - Leading and developing a new global sales solutions team selling IT services to the air transport industry and over-achieving the sales targets, every year. This included in 2006, winning a major deal, worth over US$120 million or 12% of the overall company’s sales target, with Malaysia Airlines, where Bob led the bid.
- Programme Management - Leading the delivery of a major IT programme in a leading Asian airline, where all milestones were achieved either on time or, in a number of notable cases, early. This programme played a major part in ensuring this airline was able to achieve its restructuring targets.
- General Management - As General Manager of US$50 million division of his company, Bob restructured the business to achieve better productivity and customer service, taking unnecessary costs out of the organisation. This re-structuring took place prior to the severe downturn of business and as a result margins were protected throughout the period. At the same time the key customer base was retained against aggressive competition, overall customer satisfaction was greatly improved and the core part of the business grew by an average of over 9% year on year.
In early 2007, Bob took a life-changing decision to start his own company, Global Results Limited, dedicated to delivering sales training and consultancy. Having been an advocate of Miller Heiman methodologies for a number of years, Bob became initially a Client Associate for his previous company rolling out Strategic Selling to 250 sales staff across the World, running workshops in the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
It was therefore logical that Bob became an independent sales consultant for Miller Heiman in late 2007. During 2009, he also became an accredited Funnel Coach for MathMarketing, which, alongside training workshops he has developed himself, means he is able to offer a complete sales and marketing development programme to ensure organisations can achieve consistent market leading results.
